Plantar Fasciitis

Excessive pronation in the subtalar joint of the foot can lead the torque motions of the plantar fascia. This can lead to pain through the plantar surface of the foot, in the area where this band of tissue lies. Very often extreme pain in the heel region can be associated with plantar fasciitis at the calcaneal insertion. Symptoms can include pain in the area on rising in the morning. Careful podiatric examination and biomechanical assessment is required. Treatment management plans may include prescription foot orthotic therapy, stretching exercises, ultrasound and shoe wear advice. Correct treatment of this condition can greatly reduce the time the condition takes to resolve, and can reduce the likelihood of the condition re-occurring.
